Blame it on Facebook

I can't believe how long its been since I updated my blog..all I can say is..blame it on Facebook. I really have been such a bad blogger. I am going to try to do much better. Although I have neglected my own blog I have been keeping up with everyone else. I don't leave comments that often but I do read everyone's blog.
So life is going well here. Sawyer is doing pretty well. He has a cold right now that I think he caught from Ethan but besides that he is doing okay. He has missed a good bit of school due to colds and cough but we are still hanging in there and trying to make a go of it. Everyone else is doing good. The kids are all settled back into school and it is already flying by. I can't believe Christmas is only weeks away. I am not feeling that Christmas spirit yet but hoping it kicks in soon.
Well I just wanted to give an update..there may be no readers left to read it but at least I tried:)

UPDATE...FINALLY!!!!

Well I think I am finally going to post an update about what all has been going on around here. Well first of all the most exciting news is Sawyer started school!!! I had planned on homeschooling him right up until the week before school started. All of the sudden I just knew he was supposed to go to school. I knew that is where God wanted him to be. So I went and registered him and had a talk with his wonderful new teacher. He is doing so well and has actually gained about a pound and a half since he started. I believe that being on this routine has really helped him. He did have a day on Monday when he didn't want to go but besides that day he gets up and goes without any trouble or tears!! I can't wait to see what God has planned for this child.

In other news....remember my grandfather that died last month (in July)? Well my grandmother (his wife) died 18 days later. It was shocking yet expected...if that makes any sense. I think it's one of the sweetest love stories I've ever heard. They were married 65 years and died 18 days apart. They loved each other so much. They were wonderful grandparents while we were growing up and they will be missed.
Everyone else is doing fine. Everything around here is pretty much the same. Emily is cheering and her first game is next week. Daniel and hubby are working all time. Ethan is just going to school and not liking it very much..lol!!! I am enjoying my days of being home...with all the kids in school for the first time ever!! Hope everyone else is doing good. I have a lot of blogs I need to catch up on!!

Silly Boy!!

I have got so much to blog about but I just have been so busy and decided to take a break from my blog. I am ready to start blogging again but I am in a hurry this morning. We are having Super Saturday at our church today for the kids and I am helping. So we are busy getting treatments in, breakfast ate, and clothes on!

I did want to post something funny Sawyer said this morning before I forget. He was in our bathroom brushing his teeth and he comes out and says:

Sawyer: Smell my underarms mom

Me: Sniff...ummm you smell good

Sawyer: Yeah I'm trying to get a girlfriend so I had to start wearing deodorant!!

That my friends is what happens when your 5 year old has much older brothers!!
He also informed me this morning that Daniel can get married now because he is 18 and he is a mature adult. I had to laugh! That I am not worried about....Daniel has never even had a serious girlfriend...and I for that I am thankful!!!!!!

Sawyer has been doing fabulous the last few weeks! I will post more and post some pictures tomorrow!!

Birthday Pictures!!

Ethan had a great birthday. He didn't want a party...he just wanted a cake and his cousin and friend to spend the night. Well he got the cake but his friend couldn't spend the night and his cousin decided he didn't want to spend the night. But they still played until bedtime last night and then Eli (his cousin) came back over this morning. So he has had a good time. He told me this morning that he was sad it was over. I am going to take him shopping Thursday by ourselves and let him spend his b'day money and we are going to get his back to school stuff. When you have 3 siblings a day alone with mom is something to look forward too!!
Sawyer is still feeling great! I called yesterday about his surgery and it is now officially rescheduled for September 1st.

Happy Birthday Ethan!!

Today is Ethan's 11th Birthday!! Eleven years ago today I had a 8 lb. 11 oz. baby boy. He was such a handsome little newborn. I always remember he had the biggest most gorgeous lips...and still does. I wanted to scan some pictures of when he was little but for some reason I cannot get the scanner to work. Anyway I just wanted to recognize Ethan on his birthday. He is a wonderful boy and we are so proud to call him oCheck Spellingur son. Happy 11th Birthday Ethan!!!!

Home!!

I am happy to say that Sawyer is home from the hospital. The doctor released him today as all of his tests, lab work, and cultures came back negative. We still really have no idea what caused the pain he had but we will just be happy that it is gone and that he is feeling so good now. It is funny to me how much he enjoyed his short little hospital stay. He loved being the center of attention even if it meant he had to endure a little pain!! He is glad to be home though. I must say that he had the greatest nurses and respiratory therapists. It was by far the best experience we have had yet at Children's Hospital and I contribute that to the fact that his nurses (Christina and Jeannie) went above and beyond to make Sawyer comfortable. Hubby gave the name of my blog to nurse Christina and the respiratory therapist that Sawyer had today. So in case they read this I really want them to know how much we appreciate their kindness....it made all the difference.

Sawyer is supposed to have his surgery for the nasal polyps and tonsillectomy on Aug. 18 but no one has called me yet to confirm. I will call the CF clinic tomorrow to find out if he should still have it on that day or should we wait until next month when he has had a little more time to get over this latest incident.

Emily got off to cheer camp today. I am going to miss her but I know she will have a good time. I am so thankful that she was here to stay with Sawyer and I at the hospital. I loved her being there with me. She is at the age now where she is so much company to me and so fun to be with.

Ethan is so happy that we got to come home too. He has a very special day tomorrow. He turns eleven!!! He spent the time we were away with my sister and he had a good time. He loves to be with his cousins.

Well I am about to go walk with my friend. I surely need to after the yuck I ate at the hospital!!

Today's Update

The doctor FINALLY came in today around 12:30. He basically said that he still does not know what was causing Sawyer's pain. All blood work looks great, lung x-rays looked great, flu test was negative and viral panel was negative. They did do a sputum culture today to see if he has anything new or different in his lungs. His nurse told me today that it in not a lung issue but it seems like that is how they are treating it. He is on IV zosyn and tobramycin. I guess they are probably just doing it as preventative right now. He hasn't had any fever since yesterday afternoon and the severe pain he was having below his sternum bone is gone as well. So I guess we will just continue to wait and see what happens. No word yet on when he may get to go home.

Hubby is going to be here for a little while with Sawyer tomorrow while Emily and I go home. She leaves for cheer camp tomorrow and I have to go home and get her packed. So maybe hubby can get some more info from the docs tomorrow when they do rounds.

Sawyer has been quite comical here in the hospital. He asked the nurse if it was fun being a nurse and she said yes and does he want to be a nurse when he grows up? He said it didn't sound to fun because when you give someone a shot it was like stabbing them. Today when the doctor was about to walk out the door Sawyer said....ummm I have a question. Doc said okay what is your question? Sawyer said do y'all have some ketchup up here I can eat with my chicken? So the doctor went and fetched Sawyer some ketchup!
Well I have got to get some sleep tonight. This hard plastic pull out chair will probably feel even better tonight because I am soooo sleepy. I will update again when I know more.
